Recovery Through Nature

As part of our wider volunteer programme on Hampstead Heath, we have developed a programme of free ‘recovery through nature’ (RtN) sessions for service users in substance recovery.

Our RtN programme connects people with nature to aid recovery. Participants on previous programmes experienced a 41% higher completion rate for their recovery process, and the service users found the project was very valuable for improving their health and wellbeing, by spending more time in nature. They took part in weekly outdoor therapeutic gardening and conservation sessions and Hampstead Heath’s staff found the project immensely rewarding.
