Parliament Hill conservation projects

< Back to Conservation

In collaboration with the City of London Corporation, we have been working to improve wildlife habitats around the Parliament Hill area. This work includes the creation of new wildflower meadows, planting and maintaining hedgerows, managing outdoor learning spaces and wildlife gardening.

These projects all aim to increase biodiversity in some of the busiest parts of Hampstead Heath, not only benefiting wildlife, but also enabling us to engage and involve the community, youth groups and schools in conservation work and outdoor learning.

Heath Hands has been busy creating new wildflower meadows and maintaining existing ones around Parliament Hill.

Since early 2022, we have planted more than 200 metres of new native hedging, as well as working to conserve and restore the Heath’s existing ancient hedgerows.

Thanks to support from Tesco Community Matters, we have been working on transforming this busy entrance into a wildlife-friendly nature garden and green corridor.
